Seventy Cerritos students attended a leadership conference in San Diego on Jan. 4 through Jan. 6 to learn about leadership skills and strengthen relationships with fellow students.
The event consisted of seven workshops, according to Holly Bogdanovich, director of Student Activities.
Bogdanovich said, “The leadership conference is not for students who are just involved in the club,” she said. “The event is for anyone.”
Furthermore, she commented that the $50 that each student paid to go to the event was “a small price paid.”
Lexie Guerrero, ASCC party whip, agreed.
“It was awesome because I learned a lot (from this event).”
The one thing that she got out of the conference was it gave her a perspective in life.
Bogdanovich agrees that the conference give students a chance to learn through experience, but she adds that the workshops gives “each student the tools and the skills” of what it means to be a leader.
ASCC Senator Carlos Salas, said that he not only learned about being organized but he learned “the dynamics of what leadership” is.
“It was very motivating,” he added.
Bogdanovich said that is why student activities hold the conference every January, because even if they are not involved in a club the conference can be for “everyone.”
