Cerritos College will be bursting with Chinese culture because of the Spring Festival that will be held on March 7 from noon to 3 p.m.
The Chinese Association of Cerritos will host the event in order to celebrate and honor the Year of the Ox.
The association is expecting a large turn out and will therefore need several volunteers.
“(The association) will be needing volunteers. (It needs) people to help pass out programs, clean up, help with seating seniors and decorations,” Jeanne Harmon, program assistant, stated. “We’re expecting a big turnout, almost 300 people.”
There will be banners and fliers all over the campus.
There will be performances such as fan peformances and a dragon performance.
They’re all being done by the Chinese Association.
“We need students to man booths,” Harmon says. “A lot of people are shy. I wish more people would participate.”
Last year, the festival was catered and Jeanne is expecting it to be again.
There will be plenty of people from a younger crowd to an older one.
Harmon says not to be shy to show some school spirit come out and voulnteer.
People interested should contact Harmon for more information.
