Former “Seinfeld” star Michael Richards sure dug himself a hole last Friday at the Laugh Factory in Hollywood as he went on a racial rant that included the use of the “N word” in reference to some African-American audience members.
This was Mel Gibson Part 2 as Richards, best known as Kramer on the hit NBC show “Seinfield,” was ticked off at heckling audience members and made reference to hangings of African Americans that were common in the racially divided South during segregation.
It was just as bad as Gibson’s tirade against Jews last July, but Richards made himself look like an idiot on stage, and he now says that his words weren’t intended to be negative: Yeah right!
From the videotape, which can be obtained by the celebrity Web site TMZ.com, he uses the “N word” numerous times and several people walk out.
He said that the only reason that he went off on camera was because of the hecklers.
Richards has obviously let his fame go to his head because at one points he suggested that he has so much money that he could have had all the audience arrested.
It’s a good thing for decent people that idiots like him only make the wrong decisions when it comes to money that one day he will be in the position of actor Wesley Snipes, who has a warrant out for his arrest for not paying and appropriately filing his taxes.
Until he is arrested then he should know that he is human like the rest of us.
The use of the “N word” crosses so many lines it retards us as a society.
It insults the heroic efforts of the civil rights movement of the 1960s.
It’s part of a trend where celebrities like Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Gibson and Richards, think they are above morality because they’ve let their egos grow too big that they are about to explode. For Richards, let’s hope that his ego already exploded with his outburst.
Sure, he says that he is not racist, but what if he goes as far as getting drunk like Gibson and begins to go off on just about every human being on earth, then what?
The question should be what has Richards done lately to help the planet? Nothing, because it looks like he is so worried about how he can suck the money out of peoples’ pockets as he performs at comedy clubs.
Do you see where your hard earned money is going toward? Someone who doesn’t do anything for you as an individual, that’s where that money is going to.
As for that ridiculous apology, it was not enough because a shallow-minded man like Richards doesn’t have the guts to say he is really sorry. From the sound of his words on David Letterman’s show he was not sorry whatsoever for his rant.
I’m sure that he wasn’t accustomed to being booed, but let’s hope he gets some practice now.
Fans should know as they watch their favorite shows on television that the only thing that stars put on besides makeup is a mental mask to cover up real feelings toward the people they work with and work for.
