Members of the Coordinating Committee discussed possible revisions to the college logo during the Aug. 30 committee meeting.
Revisions to the current college logo will potentially take place “in a couple more years,” according to Director of Public and Government Relations Mark Wallace.
The current college logo was designed by Kelly Kwan, graphic artist for the school, and was approved by the college president in 2007 to appear on “all marketing and promotional publications,” according to the school’s website.
The decision-making process in adopting a new logo came under scrutiny when one member suggested that more people, especially students, should be involved in deciding on a new marketing brand for the school.
Cerritos College President Dr. Linda Lacy approves the suggestion, stating, “If and when another logo would be proposed, the students would certainly have a voice in the recommendation.”
Wallace states that, in his experience, most higher education institutions revise their branding during a significant anniversary, and that he and the marketing department would initiate the process to modify the logo in the future.
“We’re the ones who would come up with something new,” Wallace affirmed.
