The Cerritos College Theater Department is proud to announce that they will be showcasing their second and last play of the Fall semester in the beginning week of Dec.
“De Donde?” by Mary Gallagher and directed by John Zamora will have its opening night on Dec. 5 at 8p.m. sharp in the Burnight Center Theatre.
The play focuses on the life of the “classic” immigrant. Immigrants that come to the North in pursuit of living the “American Dream.” Living the good life and providing a much stable and better life for themselves and their families.
What they face when they reach America is the harsh reality that one must work hard to achieve their dreams, no matter where. The immigrants then soon have to deal with the fact that they will be looked down on. They face prejudice and mistreatment from the “white” Americans.
What they didn’t expect was the bigotry of their own kind. Immigrants from first and second generations took part in mistreating the immigrants that came down to the United States.
According to the press release, “De Donde?” is a hard hitting play with a strong statement that will leave audiences with quite a lot of food for thought.
Tickets can be purchased online or in person at BC-G, Theater office in front of Burnight Center Theatre, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
