Middle school and college students alike were blowing their pipes at the Student Center on April 20 at 7 p.m.
With help of Dr. David Betancourt, the director of bands and orchestra, and Alan J. Hallback, high school and middle school music educator, Cerritos was able to host band exchange concert.
The concert was free of charge for the public.
“The band exchange concert contains three groups: Cerritos College concert band, North Park Middle School band, and Cerritos College Symphonic Winds,” Betancourt said.
According to the director, Cerritos College does its best to go out to invite other groups to perform with it.
“It’s a great way to reach out to the community,” Betancourt further shared.
“Pretty good, I like the music. It is cool how middle school kids are with college students,” Fred Sanchez, John Glen High School student, complimented.
The songs at the concert range from “Farandole from ‘l’ arlesienne'” to “Mary Had a Little Lamb” to “Colossus of Columbia” and more.
“I thought it was good performance. It is a good way for students to show off,” Michael Chavez, anthropology major, states.
