The Cerritos Culinary Arts Department has introduced its new menu of French cuisine.
A taste of France is the theme for the next three weeks and the menu consists of a five-course meal pricing at $9.50.
French cuisine, however, is not a popular choice with today’s young American culture, mainly because of its plain look and expensive restaurants.
Chef and culinary instructor Michael Pierini stated, “The Mediterranean theme from the previous weeks has been our most popular them so far.”
The French menu includes an entrée, salad, soup, main meal and dessert.
Pierini gives his students the opportunity to explore new cultures and their foods every three weeks and says, the students are lectured on the regions from which the foods they are about to prepare were originated and in turn, allow students to enjoy foods from different parts of the world.
Tai food will be the next theme Cerritos culinary students will be preparing.
The Mediterranean theme from a few weeks ago was said to be the most popular because of the foods exotic look and taste.
Although the French cuisine may not be as popular, students such as sociology major Shannon Jones and nursing major Brittney Adams strongly urge all to have lunch from the culinary department.
“You’d be surprised what you discover when you explore different things,” Jones said.
