The Cerritos College Music Department had their spring exchange concert on March 25 at 7 p.m in the student center.
Bringing to Cerritos for the first time Long Beach city college orchestra as one of the bands that was schedule to perform.
Marshall Fulbright, director of orchestra at Long Beach City College, explained that it was his first time coming to Cerritos College but was happy about his orchestra performance.
“We started rehearsal in January before class started,” Fulbright said.
He added that he was proud of the Jupiter performance they did and explained that performing at schools will be something they will much more.
The Cerritos College orchestra also performed and had Jennifer Lyon as violin, Kaitylnn Rodriguez as flute and Liliana Burgos playing the cello, performing “Trio in c major” by Mozart.
Lyon, music education major, explained that she was happy about the performance even though she was nervous in the beginning hoping not to screw up.
“We have been working on the piece for three weeks, getting it polished,” Lyon said and added that she been working on the piece for a long time.
She also said after performance “We did very well. I am proud of us and in three weeks time we did very well,” and added that one day she hopes to perform classical music professionally.
After, the performance, Director of Orchestra Dr. David Betancourt explained that he was happy about the performance of Cerritos College and how everything turned out.
“I think it was a really good event. All the groups performed well, Cerritos performed really well,” Betancourt said and added that he performed three dance episodes and one Mozart 39 symphony.
Betancourt also said that they would have another concert April 6 with having Carmenita middle school as one of the bands that was going to perform.
He also explained that exchange concert been at Cerritos since he been a Cerritos college 12 years ago and happy that its something is going on today.
