The live-action Pokemon movie, “Detective Pikachu” made its anticipated debut on May 10 and it did not disappoint with its entertaining storyline, visuals and featuring some of its original characters.
“Detective Pikachu” is truly a dream come true for anyone who grew up with the Pokemon anime series and will give any fan a nostalgia from their childhood after seeing it.
Warner Bros. and The Pokemon Company did a great job on producing an interesting storyline that was entertaining and fulfilled a dream to fans on creating a fantasy world where Pokemon and humans would live together in harmony.
Throughout the whole movie, the audience will experience a silly and fun adventure with Pikachu, voiced by Ryan Reynolds.
Reynold’s voice participation was probably the main highlight and star of the movie since he knew perfectly how to show our favorite Pokemon character its quirky side.
It was definitely fun to see Reynolds taking on the challenge on voicing a role like this and it was enjoyable to hear Reynold’s typical sense of humor.
The visuals and live-animated characters were the most exciting feature of this movie in which will bring out the child in all of us.
The animation seemed realistic as possible which can make anyone feel as if they were living in the Pokemon Universe.
The appearances of some of the characters from the original franchise made the plot fun and put anyone a smile on their faces.
It was interesting to witness how the characters evolve and fit into society with humans which can leave any fan wishing that they live in that world.
Let’s be honest the character design was incredibly cute to look at in which will make anyone want to own a Pokemon for themselves.
This film was different from any of the Pokemon animated movies or games in which many fans can appreciate how the plot had freedom of its own to tell a different storyline.
There were many themes throughout the film that brought attention such as the loss of a parent, overcoming challenges, and coming of age into adulthood which can attract especially to young adults from the audience.
These themes seemed to humanize the main characters in which can be seen relatable and an example to see on-screen.
It was nice to see these type of topics to be seen on screen despite that is featured part of a fictional fantasy movie.
Tim Goodman, played by Justice Smith, is a 21-year-old former Pokemon trainer that goes looking for his missing father in which he becomes detective Pikachu’s partner.
Goodman befriends Lucy Stevens, an intern investigative reporter played by Kathyn Newton, who is accompanied by a Psyduck.
Both go on a mission to investigate the disappearance of Goodman’s father.
“Detective Pikachu” is based on the Pokemon franchise and the 2016 video game of the same name.
It is the first live-action film entry in the franchise.
This silly-fun movie is a definite must watch in which won’t disappoint.
