Photography 232 is a class that has attracted students, such as photography major Jessica Figueroa, from Cerritos College, since the last time it was taught in spring 2008, according to instructor Ed Heckerman.
“I am using this studio class to perfect my portrait shots.” Figueroa said.
Heckerman mentioned that studio lighting is a class available once every three years and is now in session for this semester.
He also explained that the class is attracting students around Cerritos College from beginners to advance and is glad that capacity is full with 26 students enrolled since it started Aug. 15.
“I think this class is great even though it only occurs every so often,” Janet Rivas art photography major said.
“So far it’s good. He focuses on studio lighting and how it could be used in different ways.
“Heckerman is a good instructor with expertise.”
Since the last time he taught Photography 232 in spring 2008, Heckerman hadn’t received any negative feedback from former students who took his class.
“Students really like this class because they learn how to do a lot with very little and I expect this class to still continue.”
Raul Moreno, photography major, is another student taking Photography 232, explains that he has been learning new techniques regarding studio lighting.
“I’ve been learning challenging techniques and will recommend this class to other inspired photography students.”
This semester would concentrate on teaching Cerritos students many things, which are important to learn with photography.
The course will examine a variety of approaches to studio lighting that includes copy stand work, photographing metal with a light tent and also learning how to do special setups for glass that involves emphasizing the work.
Heckerman explained that he would try to keep students motivated all this semester until it ends Dec. 7.
