Homecoming season began Monday when Homecoming Court/Queen and float applications began to be available to the Cerritos students.
“This year’s theme is Old Time Rock and Roll, specifically from the 1940s to 1950s eras,” Holly Bogdanovich, director of student activities, said.
“We are currently accepting applications (for the floats). It hasn’t even been an hour since the applications been available, and most of them are gone.
“We take up to two clubs on the wait list, so, if any club wants a float, turn the application in as soon as possible.”
The eligibility for getting a float is that the club has to be an official club on campus.
Clubs will be able to start designing their floats on Oct. 16 which is five days before the Homecoming football game against College of the Canyons.
For Homecoming court, every woman who wants to take part in the court will be able to turn in an application, but only seven will be chosen to be in the court.
“Any female on campus can fill an application out. Once the applicant is cleared, they will be given a number.
“Once they get a number, they will be able to run for Homecoming Court, and depending on the number of women running, usually the top seven will be chosen to run for Queen and partake in events around campus; but both (Court and Queen) are chosen by an election.” she said.
The women can either run as an independent candidate or can be sponsored by a club.
According to the application, to be eligible to run for Homecoming Queen, you have to be a current student with at least 6 units, and at least a 2.0 GPA.
Applications for Court will be due on Sept. 29 before 3 p.m.
