Cerritos College Dance Appreciation with 45 students enrolled in the class this fall semester had three groups of students performing on different locations on campus Oct 13 inspiring her said Dance Department instructor Michelle Funderburk.

She explained that Dance Appreciation was developed at Cerritos College four years ago and was officially established by Janet Sanderson Dance Department chair member as a general education course for Cerritos College students who are interested in dance.

She also said” I think it’s a great education course for various students with disciplined or major” and added “ Its almost like a performance class without being completely in the studio.”

She explained Dance Appreciation is not only about dance but also students read, view and write about dance and learn to articulate dance like a performer.

Funderburk added the class also involves dancing for students as part of the grading process and explained that’s why students like the class.

She also added that many students leave loving Dance Appreciation and said “ My ultimate goal is to make my students learn how to articulate dance and learn the principal of how to be a performer and take that life experience.”

One of the student performing Oct 13 for Dance Appreciation on campus was Nursing Major Ana Hernandez she explained that it’s her first time taking Dance Appreciation and explained its very fun and unique.

She also said “ at first we were thinking to do something romantic and kept changing our mind until we decided to do we sexy and we know it.”

Another student performing that day for Dance Appreciation was Nursing major Niki Yin she also explained it was her first time enroll in Dance Appreciation and so far its been fun for her and would recommend this class to other students interested on taking the class.

One other students also performing was Accounty major Daninder Singh he explained that he s nervous performing but after a while he forgot about ever being nervous.

He also said “ We took two week getting ready for this performance “ and added “ But after getting ready it went well.”

Singh explained that dance appreciation had been a good experience for him to meet new people interested in dance and willing to network.

Nursing major Denxa Morales also performing the song we sexy and we know it also explained it has been a good experience for her performing and would recommend the class to other students interested.
