Some movies are instant hits, some are straight to DVD films and some should never have been made. Adam Sandler’s latest film, “Jack and Jill” is a combination of the last two options: a straight to DVD film that never should have been made.
Any time that a film has to fill up on cameos, that is a clear indication as to the type of movie that you are about to see.
This was the case with “Jack and Jill.”
Cameos came from celebrities like tennis great John McEnroe, who is no stranger to Sandler films, Regis Philbin, Al Pacino, Johnny Depp and Subway spokesman Jared Fogle.
The lack of laughs in this film is another indication that this movie was a bad idea. It was simply not funny.
It is possible to get past Sandler’s horrible decision to play both the male character as well as dressing in drag to play his female twin sister as well, but, no, it isn’t possible to get past that extremely bad choice.
Even the post-production is severely bad. The editing in this film is like one of those rides that spin you around in a constant circle at for seemingly no reason at all.
This movie has no structure at all. It was almost as if Sandler decided to write out all of the areas in which this movie could be horrible, and achieve being horrible in each of those areas.
Another problem area was the rhythm. The rhythm equaled a DVD special features section of random scenes that was made into a feature film.
At least the acting was not bad. It was terrible. I see why this movie had all those cameos; it was to take away from all of the life-altering bad decisions in this film.
Irronically enough, the opening day, 12:10 a.m. showing of this film was sold out, however, most people appeared to have the same problem that I did while watching the movie.
That problem was trying to stay awake. Do you have any idea how bad a movie has to be when the viewer sees no other option rather than to forfeit his admission and goes to sleep?
