Music, rapping, giveaways, dancing and singing is all that took place at WPMD’S Music Extravaganza at Falcon Square on Nov. 27.
Members of the Radio-Broadcasting Club took part in hosting the event with Club President Kevin Krause as DJ KK.
Business major Gayle Parks, Special Projects member for the Radio-Broadcasting Club, said the club was there to promote the WPMD Radio Station and expose the talent that Cerritos College has.
Performances were made by soprano singer Jade Simon, who is also a creative writing major.
She sang an original song to an instrument piece titled “Miracles.” This was the first time she performed for an outside audience.
“This song is about a lot of things,” Simon said.
He goes on to say, “A lot of things in life are unsure of, and you have to ask yourself if anything is possible.”
Simon’s brothers, theater major Dauvee Simon and music major Saveon Simon, also performed.
Simon goes by the name “Ignite” and rapped to his own original lyrics.
“I don’t like biting (copying other people’s lyrics). I’m all original.”
His rap was about, “Dedication to the school. Anyone who wants to talk down about it can leave.”
It was also about a dedication to the WPMD Radio Station.
Students at the event participated by dancing to the music. Parks said that she was glad to see students get involved.
Music major Michael Hess said that the event was a chance to look back on his love for music.
“You have to have fun when you can,” Hess said about having a good time at the event.
Art design major Edwin Espinola came to the event as a surprise guest performer. He beat-boxed for the people present.
“I felt i had to make an input to what Cerritos (College) students can do,” Espinola said.
The next event WPMD will have will be on Dec. 11 for a Holiday Fiesta at Falcon Square.
