Topher Grace, former “That 70’s Show” star, portrays an Eric Forman-like MIT math geek, Matt Franklin, in this overnight beauty-and-the-geek, somewhat romantic comedy.
By his side is Barry Nathan, played by a familiar fanboy (minus the Star Wars inspiration), Dan Fogler.
Completing the protagonist-trio is house bunny turned Cambridge-bound brunette Anna Faris, starring as Wendy Franklin, the female of the Franklin sibling duo.
This 80s high school reunion sets the stage for Matt and Barry’s painful romantic adventure which may hurt more to sit through and watch until Matt really decides to do something with his life other than wishing he had the prom queen, Tori Frederking, four years after graduation.
Wendy goes off on her own high school sweetheart love troubles and growing up, proving Faris has grown on the big screen.
Though the romantic buildup may be filled with all-too-familiar events that unexpectedly go right, the stories tie together for a happy ending that even the audience would think might be worth waiting for, as the supporting cast ties any loose ends.
Worse comes to worst, fans of the 80s would definitely enjoy the soundtrack. I know I did.
