Cradle of Filth’s latest album “Godspeed on the Devil’s Thunder” brings back the true meaning of gothic history with the demonic scriptures of the life of Gilles de Rais who was a brother in arms to Joan of Arc, but probably most famous for his reign of terror as a serial killer.
The album title came from a valediction the vocalist Dani Filth used to end a letter.
The album contains 13 songs. Three of them are instrumentals.
Cradle brings back its old style from its earlier work like “Midian,” and “Vempire or Dark Faerytales.”
It even brings back narrations done by Doug Bradley, who also did work in Midian, Nephetamine, and Thornography.
This album has the most melodic guitar riffs than any other this band has done.
The lyrics make the band what it once was when it first came out and defined who it is with the dark sinister lyrics that made them the second loved band from England after Iron Maiden.
It makes learning about the ancient times of Europe a headbanging good time.
The lyrics are just so amazing and descriptive in a Bible text.
It makes you think how can anyone write like this.
The songs are kind of like a dark, eerie Jim Morrison.
This album is just an epic dream of black metal.
