Mother’s Day will be on May 8th and people may be scrambling to get their mothers something for the annual holiday.
For most, their mothers play a pivotal role in who they are today and will pick you up when most people will put you down.
One important thing to keep in mind is that whatever gift you end up choosing, make sure it shows that you care.
When you receive a gift, you want to think the person took the time and cared enough to give a good gift.
So giving a gift card may not be the best gift because it shows that you didn’t take enough and are “impersonal,” it’s like if you’re giving your mom cash.
Simple gifts like flowers and a loving card, going out to eat at a restaurant and getting chocolates can work to show gratitude to your mom.
Spending time with your mom and showing gratitude will be one of the best gifts you can give because most mothers won’t care about the gift, they will care if you put enough effort into that gift.
With 11 million single-parent families and about 80% of those families are headed by the mother, it shows the true burden that most mothers deal with daily.
Being a single mother is even harder since you have to take care of your kids, constantly work hard to keep a stable income and they barely have enough time to care about themselves.
68% of mothers say that they have less than an hour to themselves, which is unfathomable to sit and think about.
Having less than an hour to yourself must drive someone crazy and most mothers have to multitask from cleaning to cooking to taking care of their child.
During his 2014 MVP (Most Valuable Player) speech, Kevin Durant was extremely emotional when bringing up his mother.
“You made us believe. You kept us off the street. Put clothes on our back, food on the table,” Durant said, “When you didn’t eat, you made sure we ate. You went to sleep hungry.”
As Durant famously told his mother during that 2014 speech, “You the real MVP.”
The importance of mother’s day is obvious enough but showing love to the person who was there for you from day one, who was there to support you and sacrificed for you, it’s a no-brainer that you should take the time to show love on Mother’s Day.
