During the many events of Hoe Down Days from dunking cops to the chili cook-off, there is one event that Cerritos College students anticipate each year.

Mr. Cerritos contest was held in the Student Center on March 13.

The winner of the Mr. Cerritos contest was Rick Barnwell, who was sponsored by the Scholars’ Honors Club.

Rick Barnwell impressed the judges made up of the 2001 homecoming court with his lip-sync and costume to a Brittany Spears song.

The runner-up was Victor Shen, who was sponsored by Alpha Gamma Sigma.

The event was hosted by Wayne Nunnery, Director of Operation at Cerritos College. Eleven male students participate in this annual event. The students had to answer questions and lip sync to songs along with showing off some dance moves.

All the contestants were sponsored by clubs on campus.

Also announced were the winners of this year’s Chili Cook-Off. The winners included:

• Most Unique Chili – Micaela Cooper from the Culinary Arts Club

• Hottest Chili – Cesar Espinoza & Blake Cavalier from the Culinary Arts Club

• Judges Favorite Chili – Marissa Caraballo from the Cosmetology Club
