After a long two-months of campaign for the General Obligation Bond for Cerritos College, the phone bank is still calling on volunteers to help at the bank and on the day of the election.
“We still need about 12 more people to be precinct runners on the day of the election, ” said Donna Jones, Campaign office manager.
Jones said, that if anyone would like to volunteer to be a precinct runner on Election Day they are welcomed to, but need to contact her, no later than Thursday. The precinct runners need to be available all day on Election Day to participate.
The Citizens for Cerritos College have been continuously working hard to call voters to see what voter turn out might look like come the day of the election.
So far the campaign office has received 10,662 yes votes, 1,136 are opposed and 5,003 are still undecided on how they are going to vote, according to Arlene Besst, a volunteer at the campaign office.
Besst said that there is stillroom available if any volunteers want to come down and make phone calls for Measure CC. On Wednesday, there is an open spot from noon until 5 p.m., at nighttime we are full.
Thursday is the last day that the phone bank will be open as a phone bank. She also said, that they can use volunteers anytime on Thursday from noon to 8:30 p.m.
There has been students, school clubs, Board of Trustees, classified employees and teachers coming down to participate in the phone banks.
Their paying people to come and make phone calls to the precincts, but are no longer, since the last day is on Thursday. The funding for those that got paid to call the precincts came from the campaign fund.
The office will be open on Tuesday for Election Day.
“We will be here from 7 a.m. until the results come in on Measure CC,” Jones said.
The absentee results should be in by 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday night. The preliminary results from the polls start to come in after, as precincts turn in the ballots from their areas to the Registrar-Recorder office in Norwalk.
