She was first noticed on the reality show, “American Idol” and went on to win the singing competition, in 2002 and now Kelly Clarkson is out with her latest single, “Walk Away” from her second CD Breakaway (RCA Records).
Clarkson went on to selling millions with two CDs and this song is the latest of a growing list of hits.
At first listen, it may not as strong as the single, “Since U Been Gone” which is one of her biggest hits since “Idol” and Clarkson again proved that she is able to take a song and make it one of her own.
The reason that “Walk Away” is not as strong as “Since U Been Gone” is because of the lyrics, but the song is still appealing because Clarkson was able to turn it into her own song.
Not be confused with Scottish band Franz Ferdinand song also titled, “Walk Away” for its CD You Can Have So Much Better (Domino Records) Clarkson begins, “You’ve got your mother and your brother/Every other undercover/Tellin’ you what to say/You think I’m stupid/But the truth is/That it’s cupid, baby”.
The song does address a relationship with someone and if they don’t like it they can walk out and just like her previous song, “Since U Been Gone” Clarkson ends up the one who is better off alone.
Do you notice a pattern within all of Clarkson’s music?
Has anyone asked why?
The reason is because she cares for the man she is with, as she sings in the second verse, “I waited here for you/Like a kid waiting for school/So tell how you come you never showed?”
Clarkson’s voice is clear and she has matured as she is considered the one that every contestant on “Idol” was to immolate.
Honestly, to all those contestants who have tried to be “the next Kelly Clarkson”: there is only one Kelly Clarkson.
What draws the attention is the chorus line of the song, “I’m looking for attention/Not another question/Should you stay or should you go/Well, if you don’t have an answer/Why you still standin’ here/hey, hey, hey, hey/Just walk away/Just walk away, sings Clarkson.
Being the first winner of America’s No. 1 show the other winners, such as Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, and Carrie Underwood have not had the success that this Texas born singer has had.
Not only has Clarkson has had the following of fans of “Idol” but she has won two Grammies including Best Female Pop Vocal, but the question is, could the woman “Walk Away” from her success?
Fans hope she doesn’t.
