Board Member Bob Hughlett addressed concern of filling in the position of coordinator of judicial affairs during the Board of Trustees meeting last Wednesday.
“I wanted to know the status of the judicial affairs position,” he said, “and what needs to be done in order for it to be filled.”
In addition, board member Ted Edmiston inquired about an updated report of the PeopleSoft program.
The position of coordinator of judicial affairs was officially vacated after the former Cerritos football assistant coach Patrick Callahan pleaded guilty last month to falsifying documents in a financial aid fraud case.
His resignation was a condition of his plea bargain.
Hughlett added that with the position not available for students that more attention needed to focus on that vacancy. Cerritos College President Dr. Noelia Vela addressed Hughlett’s concern with the position by informing him that director of Student Activities Holly Bogdanovich has worked hard to make a recommendation to fill in the position of coordinator of judicial affairs.
Bogdanovich was unavailable for comment.
The PeopleSoft program drew concern with the program’s accuracy to provide information for students and Board members.
Since the implementation of PeopleSoft two years ago, the program has caused problems for Cerritos students who try to register for classes such as dropping students from their classes unannounced or not being able to access the program through the MyCerritos Web site.
On hearing the concern Vela asked if the Board wished to have an update on the International Student Program and the PeopleSoft program in written or oral form. The board came to consent that it will have a written updated report.
