Manuel Lopez, math instructor will be the speaker at the 50th annual commencement ceremony this Saturday at 5 p.m. at Falcon Stadium.
Lopez began teaching part time at Cerritos College and Cypress College. As for being approved as this year’s speaker, said, “I feel truly honored, and have never delivered a commencement speech before, although I gave a speech at the Academic Excellence Awards Ceremony last year. That was fun.”
Furthermore, he explained, the central idea of his speech will be as we work hard in our pursuit of happiness, we really should spend sometime defining what happiness means to us. I will share a bit about my own life and how I have arrived at my definition of happiness.
Lastly, as for the hope that students will get from his speech, Lopez commented, “The satisfaction of knowing that I did something that may inspire at least one student to make positive changes in his or her life.”
