For those who read the Paper. There is a man who goes by the pseudonym, Lazurus Long who sent a letter stating the he will “vandalize” the school “promptly on April 28 at 9 a.m.”
Lazarus agreed to an interview so long as the questions were delivered to him handwritten.
After all, it is no easy to trace handwritten work.
Here is what he had to say, enjoy!
1. Why are you doing this?
Because no one else is, technology has evolved at a rapid pace. And, my goal is the advancement of graffiti if you will. Another is to take something people see as awful and make them face their contempt. This is like someone with a fear of snakes taking hold of one, nervous at first but they find out it’s not as bad as they think it is.
2. What’s the inspiration?
The article written in TalonMarks, I had been wanting to do a project so badly at Cerritos on a Massive scale, it just so happened that the article fell on my lap. Another is the fact many people have never seen a single piece of graffiti sitting amongst nothing but clean walls. It’s like a gritty diamond in the [cruddy] rough.
3. Any messages to the public?
Just think whatever you want to think about it. I think the public won’t mind. At least, they’re not flipping out like the security and campus police. If there’s one thing I’d like to say to the general public is, “Relax, this is not turning into what you think it is. The instant it does, this project is over.” As I said in a letter before: “I am not a threat, I’m just a goofball who does this as sport.”
4. Are you considered crazy?
It depends on what you definition of crazy is. Mentally speaking I’m as sharp as a tack. But fellows have been known to consider me somewhat screwy. I’m not as crazy as the authorities would lead anyone to believe as crazy people aren’t world renowned for planning.
5. How long will it take you to work on this?
I’ve been working on this project since Oct. 2008. It’s only just recently that I’ve decided to throw myself fully into it. The machines we use to cut out the stencils fairly quickly. As for how long it will take me to perform my actions, it’s quite surprising for most people.5 months ago it was taking me approximately 30 to 45 seconds to complete a hit. Skip to the present day and I’ve perfected a technique that allows me to apply my works in less than five seconds. I time everything, and anything above five seconds is considered sloppy.
6. How long have you been planning this?
Again, since Oct. 2008.
7. Do you like cheese?
Yes. I like all forms of cheese in its many different states.
8. Do you plan on releasing Patty Hearts anytime soon?
No, she’s a good cook and has loads of extra cash to give us. Plus, she really knows her way around a bank!
There you have it folks!
