There are 26 women competing for the Homecoming Queen title the 2009-2010 school year.
The competition is in the campaigning stage right now, with the elimination process taking place this very moment within themselves.
Elections are Oct. 7 and 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
There is no ceremony for the elections. All students need to do is show up during those designated times and cast their votes, either at the Social Science Building patio walkway, the Health Science walkway or the Food Court walkway.
“I thrive over the competition and excitement,” says candidate Kenya Monique Duval, child development major, who has been attending Cerritos College for a little more than three years now.
“It’s a lot of work, but well worth it,” she says.
David Cota, campaigning team member, said, “Promoting the school clubs is an excellent way to tie it in with the competition.”
He also stated the great benefit for this is for transferring to a university.
Another candidate, Evie Mendoza’s campaign team is very enthusiastic about the competition.
With Mendoza being a two-year Navy veteran and a member of the Student Veterans Club, they are all hoping for a big turnout with students getting more involved with the club.
The final seven women will be chosen on Thursday night and announced Friday morning.
The women will get a phone call in the morning, letting them know that they are continuing in the competition.
