Incumbents Bob Hughlett and Bob Epple will be joined by new incoming member Shin Liu to once again be part of the Cerritos College Board of Trustees.

They were three of the five candidates running to become board members. The candidates were incumbents Bob Hughlett, Bob Epple, and Carmen Avalos, along with community members Shin Liu and Tom Chavez.

The voting results were as follows:
Bob Hughlett: 8,491  votes
Bob Epple: 8,179  votes
Shin Liu: 6,741  votes
Carmen Avalos: 6,497  votes
Tom Chavez: 6,152   votes

Shin Liu, who is a professor of Computer Science and the coordinator of distance education at Rio Hondo College, stated she was very surprised  but excited that she will be joining the board.

She said, “I am excited to serve on the board. I can’t wait! However, just because I will part of the faculty does not mean I will only serve faculty. No, on the contrary, I will serve everyone including faculty, staff, and students as well as the community.”

She hopes to bring another point of view to one of the greatest and most diverse colleges in the state.
