For everyone who has donated blood before, donating is a piece of cake. It is all a routine to them.
For Natalie Peng, environmental science major, this was her seventh time donating blood.
The reason why she continues to donate is, “the fact that it helps people, it helps make a difference and saves lives.”
But for Monica Chaidez, undecided major, this was her first time donating blood.
Before donating blood she said, “I am very nervous, but it’s for a good cause”
The reason she decided to donate blood was because, “someone might need blood so I decided to sign up, and it’s not going to hurt.”
Each pint of blood saves three lives.
In total, Tuesday it has collected 50 pints of blood and was expected to end the day with 75 pints of blood.
That means that it is expected to save 225 lives so far.
Rob Torrez, senior field manager for the Red Cross said, “That not enough blood is donated during the holiday.”
Torrez also stated that all the blood being donated today is going to local hospitals for Thanksgiving.
After Chaidez finished, she said, “It’s not bad at all, I think many people should do it.”
Chaidez plans on donating again in the future.
The blood drive will be here at Cerritos College tomorrow and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
