Former Cerritos College president Noelia Vela was placed on administrative leave from her current role as the San Bernandino Community College District chancellor on Tuesday.
Despite receiving a vote of no confidence from Cerritos College’s Faculty Senate,
she was hired to replace the former chancellor 18 months ago and will now be placed on administrative leave until her mutually agreed resignation takes affect on June 30. .
Board President James Ramos read a brief statement saying that Vela will be paid an annuity for the six months remaining on her employment contract, though district officials are “still working out” the amount of the annuity.
District Vice President Bruce Baron was named as acting chancellor and though he declined to elaborate why she was leaving, the statement said the leave will enable Vela “to explore new and different professional opportunities.”
