The California Community College Cross Country & Track Coaches Association named director of Track and Field Doug Wells the Track Coach of the Year for 2009.
Wells was presented with the award December 19th in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“It’s a great honor because it’s voted on by all the other coaches in the state,” said Wells.
With 20 years coaching Track & Field and Cross Country, Coach Wells also has several State Championships to his name.
“I have a great coaching staff,” said Wells, “you can’t do it alone.”
The Cerritos College Women’s Track Team has won the State Championship 2 years in a row and 3 State Championships in the last 4 years.
Though the Men’s Track team finished 2nd in State, both teams finished 1st in the South Coast Conference this season.
Coach Wells has no predictions for next season, but despite losing some people, he still believes he has a very talented team.
