Every Semester Cerritos College has offered court writing and captioning program careers to students who are interested in pursuing this career since the Court Reporting and Captioning Careers program was awarded $95, 000 dollars to create this captioning program to train captioneers.
Most students that graduate end up getting jobs not only in court reporting, but also in air broadcast captioning, working for well known events and entertainment.
This work includes doing air captioning, said Court Reporting professors Vykki Morgan and Maria Valmages.
They are both teachers and friends for years working for the Court Reporting department.
Morgan also explains that the field of broadcast captioning and court reporting is something that they always need people in and that it is a skill that people need if they are thinking about using the stenography machine.
The machine is a special type of equipment specialized for quick typing. The reason for having it is because it does not have the same amount of letter like a standard keyboard, but it is used by displaying sound and printing what you want to type something such as a guitar displaying a specific sound.
She added that these are skills they need if they are thinking about court reporting and air broadcast captioning.
