The Microsoft Access 2007 Workshop took place October 13 in LC 121. The event, held by Mauricio Borge, taught how to create an access table, to use a data in the table to print labels and how to import from Excel sheets to an Access table.
The workshop varied from the different records that can be kept in Access and applying various fields to create labels and narrow certain searches.
“[Access] Helps keep records for students and make labels to send information for students or what city or zip code the students live in,” Amparo Atherton, a technology trainer, said.
The workshop helps faculty and staff use the program more and become familiar with it.
“The purpose of this workshop is to maximize the applications it has, to use it more efficiently and for staff development,” Borge said.
“They’re beneficial to the staff in personal and professional developments,” Borge said.
Access provides more information on selected columns such as tabs that have certain characters. For example, for the data you would select to add times and date, text for digits and numbers and for currency is calculations.
Workshops like these are only for staff members and faculty to be used in their daily work fields, and are not offered for students.
“The Academic Support Center has workshops for students and has experienced workers helping students,” Atherton said.
