About 35 vendors signed up to attend the Community Resource Fair this year but only 29 vendors set up their booths.
The vendors varied from on campus agencies to off campus vendors.
Shannon Estrada, resource specialist, decided to incorporate something different to draw people into the event that occurs every year around the last week of April.
Participants submitted a survey which included suggestions and comments, in exchange for tickets to a drawing that included three different prizes.
The prizes varied from a pair of tickets to Knott’s Berry Farm, Aquarium of the Pacific, Golf N’ Stuff, a gift card to Elbows Mac n’ Cheese and a pair of tickets from Student Activities to the movie theaters.
“This year we seem to have more people joining, I feel like the drawing is one of the things drawing students and the community in. It’s beneficial to us because later we get to read all these surveys and see what we are doing good,” Estrada said.
First semester students such as Anai Muniz, sociology major, found the fair helpful and informative.
“It’s been great, I got a lot information in the several booths, I still have more to see. Many students are enjoying the great weather and all the information being provided,” Muniz said.
There were several booths with different information being given out. There were also individuals giving information on Metro transportation and handing out maps on how to get around on public transportation.
Some vendors brought out products to have them viewed and sold.
Dr. Joshua Smith showed his rich water that contains hydrogen, alkyne, microclusters and is mineralized.
“It’s been 10 minutes since we last set up and we already had four people stop and ask about our product,” Sherilyn Smith said, spouse and colleague of Dr.Smith.
