The History Club hosted a Latin America Revolution presentation on Sept. 13 in the Science building room 202.
Cerritos College history professor Walter Fernandez was the speaker of the presentation.
Fernandez and the History Club holds presentations like this every year, and focuses on a specific subject of the Hispanic Revolutions.
This year, the focus was on the economic factor of the revolutions.
“For one thing, I think these [issues] continue until today,” Fernandez said.
Fernandez talked about how the economy impacted countries like Mexico and Central America.
“The economic impact has been affecting the food prices, the growers, and on the agricultural sector and also manufacturing as well.”
Fernandez was pleased on the number of students that attended the presentation.

“I think the turnout was excellent, I think we had a lot of students, more than I really anticipated,” he said.
Political Science major, Stephanie Gibson attended the event and thought it was very useful.
“I think it’s highly informative, and really fun,” Gisbon said.
Gibson is now interested in attending more presentations the History Club has to offer.
The History Club does have more presentations to host during the semester.
The next presentation will be on Sept. 20, and it will mostly focus on Mexico’s political system. The presentation will be located in SS311.
Central America will celebrate their independence on Sept. 15th, Mexico’s independence is on Sept. 16 and Chile’s is on Sept. 23.
Puerto Rico also has a significant date this month. On Sept. 23, Puerto Rico attempted to declare independence but failed.
