Computers, computer desks, monitors, keyboards, and printers; all these were found heaped up in front of the Purchasing Office around 11 a.m. on Sept. 28.
Richard Smith. a lead warehouse worker, said, “All these surplus items go out for auction and the college gets the money.”
Ramona Mellgoza, purchasing secretary, said, “These are old and obsolete furniture ranging from computer chairs and computers to file cabinets.”
She also said it was up to each department to give a reason and order new furniture.
Regarding computers, she said they are brought up-to-date along with better desks that would help with student space.
She added that it is the Board of Trustees who approved the replacement and sale of the furniture.
Concerning funding, each department has its own budget with funding that come from grant money, district money, and bond money.
