ASCC award applications are currently available at the Student Activities Office, and online at http://cms.cerritos.edu/activities/awards-program.htm, up until Nov. 9 at 3 p.m.
The awards that will be given out will vary depending on the criteria the applicants need to follow.
The minimum requirement for winning an award is having at least a 2.0 GPA.
The students, who have participated and volunteered at campus events and clubs (including the Welcome Day and Club Info Day etc,) will be eligible to apply to win the Service Certificate.
Director of Student Activities Holly Bogdanovich said, “The awards applications are for students that volunteered their time to the campus. In other words, they participated in building floats, or were a part of the mock rally or are part of a club or organization that had bake sales or any events that the students volunteered their hours of service with.”
She also stated that students that only participated in one event may have a chance to win at least one of the awards.
Students will also be able to win the Bronze, Silver, or Gold Falcon award plaques for students who participate at campus events and clubs on campus, in addition of having leadership in the clubs and other activities during the semester.
“We will have a committee that will go through the application and will rank the applications and will be put in the categories of ‘Gold, Sliver, or Bronze Falcon, or Certification of Service.” Bogdanovich said.
“So if a student volunteered for one event, one hour, for only one time, then the student will be rewarded with a Certificate possibly (because we want to acknowledge those who volunteer there time) compared to someone who is a president of a club, and its part of three other clubs, ran for homecoming queen, participated in the mock rally, and who put in a lot of services hours on campus, they would get some sort of awards. The more participation the students have the higher award you get.”
She also said that students are part of a club with a 3.0 GPA, and are at least is enrolled in five units will be allowed to apply for the Inter Club Council Scholarship.
Last fall, there were about 200 students that applied for an award, and it is expected to be the same amount of people, if not more, applying this year.
The award application will be checked by a committee of students and faculty for authenticity. For more information, go to the Student Activity Office Monday-Thursday before 4:30 p.m. and Friday before 3 p.m.
