The Cerritos College Nursing Program was in Falcon Square on Tuesday, Oct. 9 to educate students about alcoholism, diabetes, stress and sexually transmitted diseases.
There were several nursing students standing at each booth to answer any questions people might have about the related topics.
“We picked these four different areas for a reason.” Nursing Instructor Chris Arfwedson said.
She continued “Look at your population, one out of four students who come into health services has some type of std.”
Nursing major Jennifer Graham made light of the growing problem on the Cerritos College campus.
She said, “They are all connected. If you get too stressed out then you gain weight which leads to Diabetes and drinking, you get drunk and have unprotected sex.”
While Arfwedson and Graham felt all of the booths were important, they both added an extra emphasis on going into Student Health Services and getting free std testing.
