A female student filed a report to campus police regarding indecent exposure Wednesday, April 30, per a campus safety alert.
According to the report, at around 7:45 a.m. the female was approached by a man asking for directions from his car, with her approach having her witness the man’s pants down, his genitalia exposed in parking lot C-9.
Richard Buckowiecki, Cerritos College campus police chief, said, “A male, who was the lone occupant of another vehicle in the same area, engaged her in conversation … she walked toward his vehicle, and when she did that she saw that his shorts were down enough to expose himself.”
Furthermore, the report had the man leaving in his Honda minivan, which has been labeled as grey or silver-colored. He then left to parking lot C-10.
“We’re still conducting an investigation,” Buckowiecki said. “We rely on any information we can possibly get. We follow all leads. So we put up a Safety Alert so people are aware and they can keep their eyes out for the suspect.
“And more importantly so that maybe they’ll think twice before approaching a stranger in a vehicle that they don’t know. You don’t want to get too close to people you’re not familiar with.”
The man is described a “male Asian, black hair, dark brown eyes, 20-22 years old, average build, wearing a white T-shirt and blue basketball type shorts.”
As far as what happens to the individual once he is caught, “that would be entirely up to the court,” according to Buckowiecki.
