The ASCC convened once more in BK 111 to discuss new things for the future of the school on Monday, Oct. 6.
The first thing that the ASCC had on its agenda was to have a vote of recommendation for the Fall Awards Banquet. The vote had passed to try and keep the banquet this fall, so from that point it would be passed on to the senate to try and keep the Fall Award Banquet this year.
Another topic of interest was brought on by Miles Aiello, ASCC president. The topic was on the holiday of Veterans Day, which is a day to commemorate veteran soldiers for service for our country.
This year on Veterans Day, Aiello wants to hold a very special school-wide celebration for the veterans here on campus and really show them as a student body a true thanks.
Next up in the agenda for the ASCC was a program that was presented by the chief justice to help college students. It was outlined and described as a program designed to help students finish their college educations and get a degree so they can get better jobs.
One of the last things on the ASCC agenda discussed having a club competition.
“The goal for the club competition is to increase the support that our athletes receive from the individuals that are going to our college across campus” Sara Hickman, commissioner of athletics, sad. “We have 64 clubs, and if we can get all of them involved in supporting our athletes, I think that’s a step well made.”
Valerie Montoya, assistant commissioner of athletics, said, “I think that the clubs, as well as students, will enjoy it due to the fact that we are trying to get a reward system going; so that will give them more incentive to go forth and pursue with watching our games overall.”
