Looking to transfer?
Well, with about weeks left, students gathered around university booths in the library sidewalk to discuss their transferring plans with school recruiters at the Mini University Fair on Thursday, Nov. 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
About 20 universities and Cal State recruiters lined up their booths, allowing students to stop by and get information on how to transfer to their school.
Some schools that were at the fair were Cal State Los Angeles, UCLA, Cal State Northridge, and Cal State Fullerton.
Administrative clerk for the transfer center, Evelyn Mattison, said, “The event is turning out fantastic so far. We have plenty of students showing up so far, even people that didn’t R.S.V.P.”
The recruiters gave out flyers that informed students on when to apply to transfer to their schools.
Most students also had the chance to sign up for a one-on-one session with a counselor to look over their transcripts and get some transfer guidance at a later time.
Liberal studies major, Karen Rodriguez, said, “I’m not sure where I want to transfer but the fact that I got to talk to someone that works at the schools definitely helped me make some choices.”
Anthuan Vuong, student recruiter for University of the West, said, “I’m glad to be able to introduce my university to the Cerritos College students.”
Vuong mentioned that he wished he had arrived to the school earlier to get a booth that wasn’t at the end so he would have talked to more students.
Along with the university booths was a financial aid booth and a transfer center booth. Students were able to get plenty of their questions answered at those booths.
The Mini University Fair is the last transferring fair that the school will have on campus for this semester.
If a student wishes to get more information on transferring, Mattison recommends that he goes to the transfer center, or set up an appointment to meet with a counselor.
