Financial aid is created to help students with college finances and urge them to attend school even if they do not have the money to do so.
If this is the purpose for financial aid, then why are so many people misusing such a beneficial program?
Students who are eligible for financial aid are fortunate to have a great source of funds coming their way, but what certain students do not understand is it’s a government funded program to help with school, not fun.
It seems that students using their financial aid money on concerts, parties and other events has become a frequent problem.
It would be great if we all received money for fun, but in this situation, that’s not what this money is meant for.
Some students don’t qualify for financial aid, because they make “too much” money, but yet they still cannot afford school.
I’m sure they would appreciate any money that came their way to help with their schooling, but they aren’t that privileged.
The money provided for financial aid comes from taxes, and taxes are pulled out of people’s pockets.
People are working for their money, then handing it over to the government to help those who “need” it, yet some aren’t even using it for school.
Rent, food, books, classes; those would be appropriate reasons for people to spend their financial aid money.
Some student may think that this is their money; they can spend it how they wish. While that is true, it was given to you for a reason, that reason not being entertainment or other trivialities.
It was once someone else’s money ; it was taken and given to us.
Students shouldn’t take advantage of something this helpful and great when it is assisting them through school and financial problems.
They should be thankful they are one of the few who receive money for school and use it resourcefully.
