Financial aid should only be used for school-related purposes. Things like textbooks, transportation and supplies are acceptable reasons to spend financial aid, but those are just about the only acceptable reasons.
People should not use their financial aid money on things like luxury items.
Things like a brand-new car, or an iPad to complete assignments are luxury items which are not not items that are needed to further education.
Students are wasting people’s tax dollars on frivolous things that in no way benefit education.
When it comes down to it, students are using their disbursements to slack-off, party, buy alcohol, and shop. A total waste of space.
Then there are those who are going to school just to get money, again, taking up spaces in classes when there are people actually wanting to get their degrees.
Since spending is not closely monitored or regulated, this will likely continue, but we need as a school need to do something about this. We need to put a stop to it.
A way that can change things is to get even more serious about taking students disbursements if student don’t buckle down on their education.
Grades and attendance requirements should be raised and/or changed so that people taking advantage of the money will no longer be eligible for it.
Plain and simple, the financial aid system is still flawed and is yet to be fixed.
