Let’s keep one thing clear: No one on this planet is obligated neither shall be forced to attend church, and for one to get beaten to death for planning to leave church it is brutal and uncalled for.
On Oct.16, a Christian couple and other people who all attend the same church by the names of Bruce and Deborah Leonard, Sarah Ferguson, David Morey, Linda Morey and Joseph Irwin, all participated in the beating and killing of 19 year-old Lucas Leonard.
Christopher Leonard, the Leonards’ younger son, was seriously injured when he and his older brother were both punched, kicked and whipped with computer cords for
This brutal behavior was done during a counseling session and it lasted from 9 p.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. the following day.
This is why most people don’t want to attend church or be a part of the religious community. These misinterpreted actions give a bad image to the church.
Personally, I do not believe in beating someone to death because he or she wanted to leave church.
As a Christian, this type of behavior is unacceptable; we are taught “thou shall not kill,” which is the fifth commandment of the Bible.
Leonard’s parents should be ashamed of themselves and so should the church members that helped beat this young man to death.
Just because one person doesn’t want to continue to go to church it does not mean he deserve to die, or does not give you the right for you and your fellow church members to kill that individual.
The murderers deserve to be put under the law and this kind of behavior discourages people from religion.
If I wasn’t a Christian and I saw this story and I was already debating on what religion to choose, I would definitely not want to become a Christian.
If this is how christians are acting why would I want to be affiliated with church people that killed their 19-year-old member because he did not want to attend church anymore.
He literally, just wanted to leave that’s it, and to top it all off not only did his parents kill him his church family members helped as well.
This story is so upsetting to read I just hope people don’t think all Christians are like this because they aren’t .
