The night of the MTV VMAs saw celebrities such as Naomi Campbell and Drake, who recognized Rihanna for her achievements, her carelessness, and her ability to have people sing along to words that do not exist.
Her third performance was my favorite. She re-enacted her “Work” music video and danced so flawlessly doing so.
She could have dressed provacatively and the fact the she didn’t makes me like her so much more.
She and Alicia Keys stood out. Madison Square Garden was lively with celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Nicki Minaj, Amber Rose and Future, that are responsible for the flawed perception we have about ourselves .
It does not help that some performances like Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande’s emphasized sex so much.
Their performance included them dry humping exercise bikes and buff guys dressed in weird clothing doing a lame exercise routine.
Furthermore, there were also two mannequin legs that belong to a woman, that pointed her toes in different directions which led the audience believe that her legs are open.
Michael Phelps praised Future by stating, “There’s no rapper more inspiring today than Future, it’s right there in his name.”
We all know Phelps does not always practice discretion, this is another example why.
Future publicly bashed Ciara, the mother of his child. I am not saying she handled the situation perfectly, but she isn’t the one being called our future.
Alicia Keys attended the VMA’s without any makeup and looked better than the majority of the women there. She reminded young women that they are beautiful in their own skin.
The VMA’s promoted a lot of sex knowing the majority of their audience are teenagers and young adults. At least they promoted the practice of safe sex by using Trojan’s new 40 percent thinner BareSkin Condoms.
Keys was the tunnel light, the hope that not everything is in shambles.
In a room full of idiots who do nothing positive with the influence they have, she stood out. She delivered a strong message in the form of a poem which was converted into a song.
Nonetheless, what she said was inspirational.
Sunday was the 53 anniversary of Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream” speech and in remembrance of that she filled the arena with inspiration.
On another note, Britney Spears needs to quit while she is ahead. Her shows in Vegas are awesome. We all know she is a great performer, but we can’t really say the same thing about her singing.
