(Letter to the editor re AB-2943) In yet another insult to the intelligence of people, some California legislators are actually considering a bill (AB-2943) that would make it illegal for a consenting adult to receive therapy to try to resolve unwanted same-sex attractions or gender confusion.
Hello! California is already forcing psychiatrists and psychologists to malpractice by forcing them to treat sexual or gender identity disorders in children as if they are not disorders.
Truly bizarre. (It’s fairly obvious that female minds in male bodies and male minds in female bodies and homosexual minds in heterosexual bodies are sure signs that something went wrong somewhere (in nature and/or nurture), are sure signs of mind/body mismatches or disorders.
So, to put transgenders and heterophobic homosexuals on the same level as normal heterosexuals is absurd.
No rational person can deny that. This was the commonsense position of the American Psychiatric Association for years before it became corrupted by irrational, ever-so-trendy “political correctness.”)
Now some legislators want to double down on the state’s bizarre policy on disorders by banning consenting adults from receiving therapy for clearly objective disorders!
There are only two human genders: heterosexual males and heterosexual females. That’s obvious.
On the other hand, there are all kinds of sexual or gender identity disorders: e.g., homosexuality, bisexuality, transgenderness, sadism, etc., etc.
To basically equate disorders with non-disorders is as absurd as equating morality with immorality or health with illness.
Hopefully Californians will contact their legislators and ask them to drop this odd anti-choice bill (AB-2943) like a lead balloon.
Sincerely, Wayne Lela
