It was forward Elba Menjivar’s goal in the 68th minute that brought life back into the struggling Cerritos College women’s soccer team against Santa Clara after trailing 2-1 Sunday afternoon.
But, it was midfielder Corina Villegas’ two goals in overtime to complete a hat trick and lead the Falcons to a 4-2 victory and a back-to-back state championship title.
“[Corina] is amazing. She put this team on her shoulders,” said head coach Ruben Gonzalez.
