An all-around team effort gave the Cerritos College women’s basketball team its first victory in conference play over El Camino, 54- 51, in overtime and a place in history for head coach Karen Welliver.
With the win last night, Welliver becomes the winningest coach in California community college women’s basketball history with 564 wins passing Tom Martinez’ 563 at San Mateo.
Welliver remained humble and focused on the season even after reaching the milestone.
“It’s not about me, this is (the team’s) season. What’s important is the next game.” Welliver said.
