The Cerritos College softball team lost to Mt. San Antonio College, 9-4, increasing its losing streak to 3 in a row.
A predominately freshman team, this loss to Mt. SAC on Tuesday gives Cerritos its first loss in conference play.
With this loss, it puts the Falcons only two games ahead of Mt. SAC.
“The way we react to these losses is going to define us as a team,” Kodee Murray, head coach, said.
Tuesday’s game started off at a fast pace for both teams.
Mt. SAC had a three-run homerun early in the first inning and Cerritos replied right back with two runs in the first as well.
Coach of Mt. SAC, Kelly Ford, said, “Our first pitcher went through Cerritos’ batting line-up and pulled her.
“Our second pitcher stepped up huge, and adding that to how well we were hitting put the momentum in our favor.”
Cerritos gave up one run three innings in a row, and three more runs in the sixth inning.
The Falcons had a short-lived comeback when Samantha Vaaulu hit a two-run home with only one out, and next at bat sophomore Jennifer Salas hit a double, only to ground out and pop fly out with the following at bats.
