On Feb,1 Cerritos College men’s tennis were skirmishing with Victor Valley College at 2 p.m on the Cerritos campus preparing them selves for the preseason game.
Thomas Pierson of the Cerritos tennis team who is majoring on International Business explain that all during off season the team been preparing for the preseason and its first away game with Cypress College on Feb,3.
He also clarifies that today’s game with Victor Valley is nothing but challenging so it could prepare for its first official game on Feb,3 with Cypress College at 2 p.m.
Even though we’re been preparing for the preseason and working in the tennis technique, with Victor Valley today I am still kind of nervous about playing Cypress College, because they are an international team.
Kyle Porter majoring on Computer Engineering said about the game ” we look better that ever been mentally physically and we showing much of it today” and he also added that playing Cypress wont be easy task for them.
Porter also explains that his personal goal is to become a better player, he also said he once led Lakewood High to the number one spot.
But he also explained that this preseason will determine if they are really ready for the competition that they have forward against them.
Head coach Alvin Kim said about the today’s game with Victor Valley” we been working hard all season and we are showing it today playing Victor Valley not giving them any mercy.”
He also said that his personal goal this season is for the team to try and beat Cypress on Thursday and reach the top ten in the Socal region, because right now they are in the top 13.
Kim also added that hopefully they go undefeated but knows that it will be a bumpy ride for them this preseason specially when they play Cypress knowing that they have all international team.
He added” we been running doing cardio, also on strength by going to the weight room and I feel we got a better chance more this season than last season.”
Kim also said that he is grateful that he has a good team this season Dereck Siddiqui being number one in the socal region and how the team showed a lot of it beating Victor Valley College nine to zip.
And added that the game with Victor Valley its just a warm up for something bigger that’s about to come in the preseason but with hard work it could be accomplish.
