A rushing touchdown from running back Cory Westbrook ignited a double-overtime home victory for the Cerritos College football team (5-2, 3-0) over conference opponent College of the Canyons Saturday.
Westbrook had three touchdowns and averaged 5.9 per carry on the night.
Another Falcon player who contributed three touchdowns is quarterback Brandon Denker, who finished with 150 passing yards.
“We are growing up finally. And at the most important time in conference,” Denker said. “We knew we were the better team tonight.”
Denker threw a first-quarter touchdown pass to tight end Clark Evans that gave Cerritos a 7-0 lead.
He also connected with Clark in the third-quarter for a 42-yard touchdown, before rushing for another in overtime.
“My quarterback put the ball in the right place and I caught it,” Evans said.
While defensive back Dwan Gill acquired the team’s interception for the game, while safety Chirs Metcalf lead the team with total tackles at 9.
The Falcons will travel to defend their undefeated conference record against Bakersfield College.
