The Cerritos College baseball team suffered their third loss in a row over the weekend against the College of the Canyons, losing 4-1.
The Falcons limited the College of the Canyons to two runs until the fourth inning in which a throwing error by Chris Hefner led to a two run fourth inning.
The Falcons scored their only run on a passed ball in the fifth inning.
Christian Price once again had a solid outing, going 2 1/3 innings allowing only one run and striking out two.
Freshman Jared Gibson talked about the losing their games and about what Coach Gaylord had to say to them.
“We learned that even though we were on the verge of winning those games and even though it was tough losing, we remained optimistic because we’re only a few steps away from winning those games and being a team that competes with anyone,” he said.
Jacob Bell was the losing pitcher in this matchup while College of the Canyons pitcher Corey Jones recorded the win, improving his record to two wins no losses.
The Falcons had dropped all three of their games as well as lowered their record to two wins and three losses.
The team’s next game will be away against Golden West College on Feb. 13 at 2 p.m.
The teams were scheduled to play Feb. 7 but due to rain, they had to reschedule their game.
