Winning the 400 and 800 meter relay as a team, the Cerritos College men’s and women’s track and field team participated in a non-scoring meet at the Santa Barbara Relays on March 23.
Individually there were first place runners for the Falcons with Najee Jackson in the 100 meter dash, Jerry Lipscomb in the 110 meter high hurdles and Dionbrea Norris in the triple jump.
In the previous California Relays, the Falcons managed to get first place in the 1,600 meter sprint medley relay and with Luis Calderon in the 10,000 meter relay.
Doug Wells, director of track and field for the men’s and women’s team, talked about the Falcons’ overall performance.
“We performed very well and we won a lot of races. We got a couple of men’s hurdlers who posted their best times of the year.”
Falcons placed in other events with Seth George in second place in the 100 meter high hurdles, Dionbrea Norris in second place in the high jump and Brandon Hendrickson in third place in the 110 meter high hurdles and second place in the 1,600 meter relay.
100 meter, 200 meter and four by four runner Najee Jackson said about his performance, “I just came of a injury within two weeks and I felt like I was running pretty slow, but after a while I started warming up and ran the 200 pretty good.”
The Falcons’ next meet will be the Titan Twilight Open on Friday March 30 at Cal State Fullerton.
The Falcons won’t have another scoring meet until the South Coast Conference meet at Compton on April 24.
